Dr. Nomalanga Mkhize

Dr Nomalanga Mkhize is a historian with a Masters of Arts in History from Rhodes University and a PhD in Sociology from the University of Cape Town. Her teaching interests are in themes in ancient African history, 19th century intellectuals, and South African economic history. She is developing research expertise in the historiographical traditions and contributions of 19th century African writers. She also writes children’s books in African languages and is active in the community arts sector.

She is currently lecturing History at Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth.
